ROAPS EXPRESSES DEEP CONDOLENCES AND OFFERS IMMEDIATE SUPPORT FOLLOWING TRAGIC FIRE IN KOCANI, NORTH MACEDONIA

The Romanian Association of Plastic Surgeons (ROAPS) is deeply saddened by the devastating tragedy that occurred last night in the town of Kocani, North Macedonia, where over 150 individuals have reportedly suffered severe burn injuries.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and to all those affected by this catastrophic event. In these moments of great pain, solidarity and swift action are essential.

The members of ROAPS stand in full support of our colleagues and neighbors in North Macedonia and are ready to offer immediate medical and logistical assistance. Time is critical in the treatment of burn victims, and any delay could result in further loss of life.

We are currently awaiting direct contact from the authorities in North Macedonia or the activation of EU civil protection mechanisms to facilitate a coordinated medical response. ROAPS remains fully mobilized and prepared to contribute to the emergency efforts in any way necessary.
